[post_content] => The rough, red leathery skin of the lychee fruit contrasts with the white, creamy fruit inside. Originating from China, lychee is a tropical fruit known for its sweet and fragrant flavour.

Boasting an impressive array of vitamins, fibre and antioxidants it tops our list of favourite fruits. Lychee is a wonderful fruit with plenty of health benefits, including its ability to aid in weight loss, protect the skin, boost the immune system, prevent cancer, improve digestion, build strong bones, lower blood pressure, defend the body against viruses, improve circulation and optimize metabolic activities.

Rich in antioxidant vitamin C, with more than 100% of the recommended daily amount in one cup, the lychee is a superfood powerhouse!

[post_content] => But did you know there is a way to enjoy chocolate without the guilt and with some delicious health benefits thrown in?
Think raw, organic cacao – not the sugar rich junk food bars you find at the checkout.
Raw cacao is somewhat different from the common "Cocoa" most of us grew up with in our hot milk.
Cacao (pronounced "cu-COW") refers to the Theobroma Cacao tree from which Cocoa is derived, and is used when referring to unprocessed versions of the cacao bean.
Normal cocoa powder and chocolate have been chemically processed and roasted, which destroys a large amount of the antioxidants and flavanols (the things that keep you young and healthy).
Cacao in its raw natural state is bursting with nutrients. Containing 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries and 4 times the antioxidants of green tea, cacao soaks up free radicals, which cause cell and tissue damage and can lead to diseases such as cancer.

Cacao is packed with essential minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, potassium and magnesium.  It also boasts high levels of sulfur, the mineral that promotes healthy skin and strong hair and nails.  Cacao is also a natural mood enhancer, increasing serotonin levels and releasing endorphins.
Explore ways to use cacao to make your own chocolate delights – it’s really not as hard as you may think.
With so many beauty and well-being properties, cacao tops our list for a guilt-free, healthy and very happy Easter!

To reap the benefits the seeds need to be roasted in the oven on a high heat for about 15 mintues.

For a taste explosion add a little olive oil and salt or a dash of cinnamon.

[post_content] => The champion of this delicious smoothie has to be the pineapple, which contains a digestive enzyme called Bromelain.  These enzymes work together to  help your digestive system break down and absorb proteins from the foods you eat.  It is also rich in fibre, which is another superhero for digestive health.

Combining the goodness of Vitamin C, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and fibre, as well as immense soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, this smoothie will leave your tummy smiling from the inside out.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
1/2 large banana
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup coconut water
1/4 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons avocado
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon probiotic powder, optional
lemon or lime slice, for garnish

METHOD

Add all ingredients into a blender and blend on the highest speed until smooth.

Enjoy!

[post_content] => We know that fruits, particularly berries and those with rich colours, are brimming with antioxidants. This means they are vital boosters to your health and wellbeing. Strawberries are no exception to this rule; in addition to antioxidants and polyphenols, they contain many other nutrients, vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, folate, potassium, manganese, fibre and magnesium!

So, what are some of the many health benefits of strawberries?

- The vitamin C boosts the immune system, protecting us from colds and coughs . A single serve of strawberries contains about 150% of your daily Vitamin C requirement – now that’s incredible!

- Strawberries are rich in antioxidants which neutralise free radicals, the harmful by-products of cell metabolism.  This process protects us against heart disease and cancers.

- The potassium and iodine in strawberries can boost brain function and protect against premature ageing of the brain.

- Strawberries can improve eye function, alleviate high blood pressure and provide relief from arthritis and gout.

Summer equals strawberries so, while you enjoy the abundance, you are reaping the rewards of some serious health benefits!
