[post_content] => But don’t worry, with the help of Gernetic you can shed the layers with pride.

1.As Spring infuses in us the desire to look our best it might be time to switch to a nutritive cream that will promote a healthy skin. Thanks to its unrivalled, rejuvenating, nutritive and healing properties, Gernetic’s hero product Synchro will prepare you for the hot weather to come.

2. Many of us prefer to wear less make up in warmer weather, so evenly balanced skin tone is a must. Gernetic’s Skin Clair Depigmenting Serum helps to combat over pigmentation by inducing desquamation and by reducing melanin production. Follow with Skin Clair Nutritive Cream for an even lighter complexion.

3. Winter can leave skin taut and dry so in Spring it is important to boost moisture with a deep hydrating face mask. Try Hydra-Ger to nourish the skin and allow the basal cells to retain their moisture. Perfect! Team it with Cells-Life Serum to really put a spring back into your skin.

4. If you suffer from acne or pimples on your body, then unpeeling those winter layers in springtime can be daunting. To clear up your face, chest and back apply Mixed and Oily Cream. It is antiseptic, bacteriostatic, anti-seborrhea, depurative, astringent and hydrating! Use in conjunction with Sebo-Ger, a plant based antiseptic and remineralising lotion and you’ll see stunning results.

With so many products to treat so many skin conditions, Gernetic has you covered this Spring!

2. Hiding behind winter clothes as your skin dries out and your weight increases?
3. Reaching for an extra cup of coffee, a chocolate bar or an energy drink every time you need an energy boost?

If you answered yes to any, or all, of the above, then it’s time to make some changes! Getting your kicks with caffeine or
remaining too sedentary during the winter months can play havoc with your energy levels and the condition of your skin.

Try our top tips so you emerge into Spring like a butterfly – not a caterpillar!

- Eat protein and fibre-rich foods to boost your heart, muscle and digestive health.
- Maintain a steady blood sugar level by eating small, frequent meals that include complex carbohydrates and protein. This way you will avoid that afternoon slump where your good intentions come undone!
- Ensure your Vitamin B and iron levels are stocked up by eating wholegrains, dairy, egg yolks for Vitamin B and fish and meat for iron. Vitamin B has an impact on the health of your skin and muscles. Iron is responsible for red blood cells as well as metabolism, immunity and mental sharpness.
- Rather than curling up with endless cups of hot chocolate and coffee, ensure you keep as hydrated as you would in Summer with water and herbal teas.
- Keep moving! Every bit of exercise counts towards a better metabolism and healthier skin. Even if you can’t manage 30 minutes a day in one stretch, try doing 10 minutes three times a day.

Small changes can go a long way – you’ll be amazed at how different you feel – and look!

[post_content] => Indoor heating, cold winds and low humidity all converge to sap moisture from the skin leaving it crying out for help!
Follow some of our top tips for beautiful winter skin:
NO long, hot showers and baths. The heat damages the delicate acid mantle of the skin and leaves it dry and unprotected. Try to take shorter showers using luke warm water and follow with a slathering of moisturiser such as Gernétic’s Body Milk, to nourish and hydrate.
DRINK more water to keep skin hydrated from the inside.  Avoid caffeine based drinks that can lead to dehydration and opt for herbal teas instead.
KEEP the heating turned low. Try using a humidifier to boost moisture levels in the air and prevent your skin from feeling dry and itchy.
CHOOSE super nourishing creams at this time of year that are enhanced with amino acids, peptides, proteins, vitamins and trace elements. Try Gernétic’s nutritive creams Synchro or Cytobi to leave your skin glowing, protected and nurtured.

[post_content] => You might be tempted to slough off old winter skin by aggressively exfoliating, but beware it can actually be bad news for your complexion. While exfoliation removes excess dead cells and impurities from the outermost layer of the skin (the stratum corneum), that’s not the whole story.

Excessive and prolonged exfoliation can also damage the protective acid mantle, which is the hydro-lipidic film of the skin that acts as the first line of skin defense. This hydro-lipidic film takes about a week to recover. Continued exfoliation is therefore not advisable as it can leave the skin vulnerable to invasion from extraneous factors.

A dull and lifeless complexion may be caused by skin cell deficiencies and poor oxygenation, which results in a shortening of the cells’ life span and an accumulation of dead cells. To avoid this, the skin needs essential nutrition to be healthy and extend its cells’ life. The natural desquamation process (shedding of dead cells) is due to the activity of an enzyme called the corneocyte and it’s where you – with the help of Gernétic – can really make a difference.

Gentle exfoliation may sometimes be necessary but only for a short time! With this in mind, Gernétic has developed a range of products to support the natural skin desquamation process by gently exfoliating dead cells or by stimulating the corneocyte enzyme.

Suitable for healthy, irritation free skin, Ger-Peel cream contains microcapsules that dissolve when rubbed, releasing a polyolefine gel that gently smoothes your skin. It is mainly used to eliminate dead cells and impurities on the T-Zone.

Though it also contains polyolefine capsules, Marine Cleansing Gel is more suitable for sensitive skin as it not only gently polishes your skin but also achieves a deep cleaning.

We also offer a Flower Acid Serum that boosts the activity of the corneocyte enzyme, very gently accelerating the desquamation process.

To complement the above products, we recommend Mito Special Plus. It energises the mitochondria, the cells’ “powerhouse”, stimulates the cell functions and accelerates their rate of re

Why Is Hand Care Important?

The skin on the back of your hands is thin and delicate and prone to cracks, wrinkles, age and sun spots, rashes, reddening, itching, blistering and dryness. Changes in weather can exacerbate these symptoms and trigger or intensify skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

What Lifestyle Changes Can I Make To Help?

Some small adjustments to the way you care for your hands can make a world of difference. The use of harsh soaps, detergents and chemicals can damage the skin, drying it and stripping it of its protective acid mantle (your skin’s natural defence system). Wearing gloves while cleaning can ensure protection from some of these harsh agents. Hot water dries out your hands and aggravates skin conditions. So, after a bath or a shower, pat your hands dry and apply anti-ageing moisturiser. Always apply a sunscreen to your hands before you leave the house. This will aid in protecting them against sun damage that prematurely ages the skin and produces sunspots. Perform hand exercises such as rotating and stretching your hands, this will decrease joint stiffness and increase blood circulation, leaving your hands looking more youthful.

What Diet Changes Can I Make To Help?

Regardless of whether you want to improve the skin on your face, body or hands, diet will help to improve your overall wellbeing. By carefully choosing foods high in nutrients, we can begin to slow down the ageing process. Gorge yourself on fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices and herbal teas. Choose foods high in essential fatty acids, (the good fats) and add cold pressed olive, linseed and safflower oils liberally to your vegetables and salads to ensure you’re consuming the recommended daily intake of essential fatty acids high in omegas 3 and 6. Avoid refined processed foods and drinks.

Which Gernétic Products Do You Recommend?

For the daily care and maintenance of your hands, Gernétic’s Manno nourishing and whitening hand cream is ideal to protect, sooth and reduce pigmentation spots. Manno is rich in amino acids and B vitamins. It is based on nut oils rich in essential fatty acids and contains a lime extract. Manno will leave your skin hydrated, nourished and more youthful looking. For skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis, use Gernétic’s Cytobi Super Nutritive anti ageing Cream and turn back to clock on your hands. Cellulite or Fat?

Cellulite and fat have different characteristics and require different solutions. Fat can be either localized on the tummy or generalized all over the body. It affects mostly the upper part of the body. Fat increases only the size of the fat cells, and leaves the skin flat and painless. Unlike fat, cellulite most often presents as dimpled skin- that “orange-peel look”- particularly on the buttocks, thighs, backs of the knees and tops of the arms. In some cases it can be painful and affects the circulation. Cellulite can impact on the skin's general condition and can change the colour as well as the texture of the skin. Fat can be lost with a diet and exercise, while cellulite cannot and will not ever disappear spontaneously.

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite may be triggered by a change in the hormonal level during pregnancy, puberty, menopause, or by taking hormonal treatments such as the pill. These hormonal changes can cause congestion and tenderness of the affected areas, plus a poor elimination of toxins and metabolic wastes. Cellulite can also be increased by a high-stress lifestyle.

How to treat cellulite

In order to treat cellulite it's important to address blood and lymphatic flow. Products that improve the lymphatic circulation and vascularisation, will promote the elimination of cellulite. Look for products containing amino acids: glutamine, carnitine, methionine, hystidine and glycine, as well as vitamins E and B3 or PP, magnesium and potassium. Plant extracts that may assist in treating cellulite include lime blossom, horse chestnut, camomile, artichoke, cypress and burdock. These are natural diuretics and have a draining effect that will visually and physically improve the appearance of cellulite. As always, don’t forget to keep yourself hydrated with lots of water. Limit alcohol, caffeine, sugar and salts. [post_title] => diet-free cellulite loss [post_excerpt] => Everyday there seems to be another celebrity's dimpled thighs making the front page news. Cellulite appears on 85% of women, but in a culture obsessed with physical perfection, orange-peel skin equals Hollywood scandal. The fact that these otherwise slim and fit women have cellulite proves that weight is not the real issue behind cellulite. You can't simply exercise and diet cellulite away! If you’re anything like us, you may occasionally indulge your chocolate addiction. Far from feeling guilty about it, we’ve decided to celebrate it and science agrees! What was once a sinful pleasure has become positively saintly, as cacao is found to be beauty and health food par excellence! Chocolate, is not only good for you, but makes you beautiful! We’re talking good quality Cacao-rich, dark organic chocolate, eaten in small quantities, forget the junk food bars, packed with sugar found at the checkout.

Cacao is derived from Theobroma Cacao beans, which literally means “Food of the Gods”, and is bursting with nutrients. It contains more antioxidant flavonoids than superfoods like blueberries, with up to four times the quantity of antioxidants found in green tea! Antioxidants are essential to health and well-being, and are one of the keys to anti-ageing. Cacao is ‘choc-full’ of essential minerals, such as calcium, iron, zinc, and potassium. It is one of the best-known sources of magnesium, which many Australians are deficient in, and is also ultra-rich in sulfur, the mineral that promotes healthy skin and the growth of strong hair and nails. This may not come as a surprise, but cacao also makes you feel happy! It raises the level of serotonin, which increases feelings of well-being, and encourages an anti-depressant response. Cacao also stimulates the secretion of endorphins, producing a natural high, similar to the sensation we get after exercise. And best of all, cacao also contains Phenylethylamine, the organic ‘bliss’ compound that is released from the brain when we fall head over heals in love. With all these health and beauty benefits can you afford not to indulge in a little cacao? So go ahead, leave the guilt behind and indulge with a clear conscience! WHY DO THE EYES NEED SPECIAL CARE?

The skin around the eyes is much thinner and more sensitive than on the rest of our body and tends to be dryer because of the lack of sebaceous glands. This is where signs of tiredness, ageing and internal dysfunctions can be seen.

WHAT LIFESTYLE CHANGES CAN HELP?

Alcohol, caffeine and carbonated drinks all dehydrate the body, increasing the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles. Ensure you drink plenty of water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices and herbal teas to hydrate the skin and drain toxins away. Promote a healthy internal system by gorging yourself on fresh, in-season fruits and vegetables. Choose foods high in essential fatty acids, “the good fats” and choose wholemeal breads and cereals to bring you plenty of fibers as well as some of the vitamins from the B group. Avoid refined processed foods and drinks.

WHICH HOME REMEDIES CAN I USE?

Caffeinated teas help constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling, while herbal teas (especially chamomile) contain anti-irritants that soothe redness and inflammation. Steep two bags of your choice of tea in hot water for three to five minutes. Let cool until the bags are comfortably warm to the touch. Lie down, close your eyes, and place a tea bag over each eye; then cover with a soft cloth. During hot months, put the cooked tea bags in the refrigerator and apply to eyes when needed for a refreshing, eye-opening experience.

WHICH GERNÉTIC PRODUCTS TARGET EYES?

Gernétic’s Eye Mask helps reduce puffy eyes and dark circles. With extracts of artichoke and wild chamomile together with a combination of powerful amino acids, Gernétic’s Eye Mask delivers essential nutrition that is delivered deep into the cells, providing a draining action that relieves puffiness, fades dark circles and leaves the eyes bright and sparkling with radiance. Gernétic’s Eye Contour Gel delivers advanced biological ingredients deep into the living cells where its powerful elixir releases a high concentration of essential nutrients. Cell renewal is stimulated, the skin’s hydration is improved and the cells are protected against free radicals, reducing premature signs of ageing. This fresh smooth firming gel is quickly absorbed, reducing skin stresses and fighting the appearance of wrinkles, dryness and dehydration, leaving your eyes looking fresh, youthful and radiant. The jasmine is blooming, the sun is rising earlier and there's anticipation in the air- it's spring! If you’ve spent the last few months hiding out on your sofa, it’s now time to dive into life! Winter may have left your skin as dry and withered as your winter-garden, but with a little tender loving care, you can make it blossom.

Dehydration (transepidermal water loss) is where water evaporates from the skin and leads to dryness and wrinkles. There are three main causes of dehydration:

1 Chemical: such as alcohol, coffee, cigarettes.

2 Diseases: like kidney or liver problems.

3 Environmental: such as humidity, chilly winds, change of temperatures, heating systems, air conditioning.

Gernétic’s Cells Life Revitalizing Serum will improve hydration levels of the epidermis and take action at a cellular level, quenching the skin from the moment of application, plumping and minimising lines as it goes.

A powerful combination of essential proteins, peptides, proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid, the serum delivers a double action on the skin by saturating the skins surface with moisture immediately re-hydrating while enhancing greater quantities of moisture retained by the skin, promoting a youthful appearance anyone would be proud to show off.

Perfect for all skins, particularly those who battle with constant dehydration, it alleviates dryness and that feeling of tightness, leaving your skin feeling replenished, revitalised and more receptive to further moisturising treatments. It’s also the perfect potion for the delicate eye area where fine lines first appear. A perfect springtime remedy! Find out more about the amazing Cells-life today.

HOW DOES ALCOHOL AFFECT MY SKIN?

Alcohol dehydrates your body generally, including the skin, which is your body’s largest organ. Dehydrated skin is dull, lifeless and prone to deeper wrinkles. Alcohol also causes the blood vessels to expand rapidly, retracting only when the alcohol is flushed from the body.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN OVER TIME?

Many drinkers notice that their skin appears red in colour and that the reddish areas increase as they continue drinking. Excessive drinking can lead to the development of telangiectasias or chronic dilation of the capillaries. Alcohol causes the capillaries to dilate quickly and stops them from returning to normal. After some time, they’ll stop dilating completely and become more fragile. This leads to the skin turning red some or all of the time. Rosacea is a disorder that causes the skin to take on a red tone, and those who drink will notice that the alcohol makes this worse.

WHAT ELSE CAN I EXPECT IF I DRINK
TO EXCESS?

Alcohol can also cause your face to look bloated and puffy and to experience break outs. You might find it bloats your stomach too. And then there’s cellulite; many believe the toxins in alcohol contribute to its build up. Alcohol also depletes the body of vitamins and minerals that it regularly needs, especially Vitamin A. Vitamin A contains antioxidants, which help the skin look healthy.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MYSELF?

Dehydration can be helped by drinking large quantities of water when you know you are going to drink, and then again afterwards. But long term, the best thing you can do is to only drink occasionally and never to excess or over prolonged periods of time. The skin can bounce back, but don’t push it so far that you can’t undo the damage. [post_title] => Is your skin hungover? [post_excerpt] => Many of us unwind over a glass of wine, or celebrate with a cocktail on a Friday night, and most of us know the pain of a hangover, but have you thought of the consequences of alcohol consumption on your skin?
