Amino Acids

Essential Building Blocks for the Skin

Amino Acids are the fundamental building blocks of our cells. Each and every cell in the skin and body is mostly made up of water and amino acids. Much like the bricks that form the foundation of a house, the amino acids are the building blocks to proteins we vitally need. They are essential for cell life and play an integral part in our DNA.

Amino Acids are highly regarded by Gernétic and are found in all products. Gernétic extracts and filters the Amino Acids using a process called biotechnology. This process provides all the essential nutrients which are extracted from a natural and controlled environment. Gernétic utilises Lactobacillus casei (micro organisms) and Chlorella or Spirulina (green algae) to obtain all the Essential Amino Acids (EAA).

Here is a list of 8 EAA found in the products and their main function:

  • Tryptophan: Important for the production of serotonin, a chemical ‘messenger’ found in the brain and the body. It assists with mood swings, depression, appetite and sleep. It is also used by the body to manufacture nicotinic acid (vitamin B3). You can find Tryptophan in red meat, dairy, nuts, tuna and soy products.
  • Isoleucine: Boosts energy levels and assists in repair and regeneration of muscles and tissues. It is incredibly important for Diabetics, as it regulates blood sugar levels. Found in eggs, fish, lentils, almonds, cashews and most seeds.
  • Lysine:  Necessary for the production of collagen and elastin, essential for building the immune system. Found in chicken, beef, soybeans, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa and amaranth.
  • Threonine: Maintains the ideal protein balance in the body. Assists with collagen and elastin production and helps to break down fats in the liver. Can be found in meats, dairy, eggs, wheat germ, nuts, beans and vegetables.
  • Leucine: Maintains muscle tissue and increases energy levels. Found in nuts, whole wheat, bread and brown rice.
  • Methionine: Essential for the formation of Nucleic Acids (DNA and RNA). Powerful antioxidant properties and helpful in removing heavy metals from the body. Found in eggs, sesame seeds, brazil nuts, fish, meats and cereal grains.
  • Phenylanine: Combats stress and depression, appetite suppressor, pain reliever in cases of arthritis and assists with treating and controlling Vitiligo. Found in meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes and nuts.
  • Valine: helps to reduce food cravings by creating a feeling of fullness, stimulates muscle growth and helps eliminate excess nitrogen from the liver, which is potentially toxic. Good sources include cottage cheese, poultry, fish, peanuts, and lentils.

Other Amino Acids found in the Gernétic Range of Products are:

  • Arginine:  Important for the detoxification process in the liver and for the production of collagen and elastin. Skins prone to eczema lack Arginine.
  • Aspargine & Citrulline: Helps to clear Ammonia from the system.
  • Carnitine: Used as a fat eliminator, speeds up metabolism.
  • Glutamine & Glutamic Acid: These two amino acids are fuel for the brain. They decrease alcohol and sugar cravings.
  • Glutathione: Powerful antioxidant helps to combat the ageing process. Helpful in liver detoxification.
  • Glycine: Helps liver detoxification, converts bile acids.
  • Proline: High in vitamin C, one of the main components of collagen. Assists with healing.
  • Serine: Natural moisturising agent, involved in skin metabolism.
  • Tyrosine:  A precursor of Thyroid and Adrenal hormones. Pigment of hair and skin are derived from this.
